Dig It Excavator Challenge Participant Agreement

Welcome to the Dig It Excavator Challenge at Connecticut Gold Land in Vernon, Connecticut. Our goal is to provide a fun, hands-on experience operating real mini excavators in a safe, controlled environment.

This is a recreational activity with no prizes. Participants may take part in digging and general operating challenges such as Tire Stacking, Cone Zone, Duck Rescue, and Boulder Basketball.

Pricing & Session Information

  • Each excavator ride is $20 per session.
  • Each challenge (Tire Stacking, Cone Zone, Duck Rescue, or Boulder Basketball) is considered a separate ride/session.
  • Each session lasts approximately 15 minutes.
  • The first 5 minutes are reserved for safety instructions and basic operating training.
  • A parent or guardian accompanying a participant under 54 inches rides at no additional charge.

Participant Requirements

Participants of all ages are welcome. Participants who are at least 54 inches tall may operate an excavator independently. Participants under 54 inches tall must ride with a parent or legal guardian inside the excavator for the entire session. The accompanying parent or guardian is not charged an additional fee.

  • Seat belts must remain fastened whenever the excavator is operating.
  • Closed-toe shoes are required.

Safety Rules

Participants must follow all instructions given by Connecticut Gold Land staff. Unsafe or reckless behavior is not permitted.

  • Do not misuse the excavator or its controls.
  • Do not stand while the machine is operating.
  • Remain within the assigned operating area.
  • Use the excavator only for staff-approved activities.
  • Do not operate the excavator in a way that could endanger the participant, staff members, spectators, or other guests.
  • Participants may not operate an excavator while under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, or medication that could impair judgment, coordination, or reaction time.
Connecticut Gold Land staff may immediately stop a session when a participant acts unsafely, fails to follow instructions, or creates a risk to themselves or others. A participant removed for unsafe behavior or failure to follow instructions will not receive a refund.

Acknowledgment

I understand that operating an excavator, even in a supervised recreational setting, involves inherent risks. I voluntarily choose to participate, or permit my child to participate, and agree to follow all safety rules and staff instructions.

I certify that I, or my child, am physically able to participate and do not have a medical condition, injury, or physical limitation that would make operating the equipment unsafe. Anyone who has questions about their ability to participate safely should consult a medical professional before taking part.

Participant Information

Adult accompaniment required: Because the participant is under 10, a parent or legal guardian must remain inside the excavator with the child for the entire session.

Connecticut Gold Land may photograph or record participants enjoying the Dig It Excavator Challenge. Please select whether Connecticut Gold Land may use photographs or video that include the participant on its website, social media pages, advertisements, brochures, and other marketing materials.
